The Arab Open University (AOU) has launched an environmental initiative at the launch of 2022 which aims to plant 2022 trees in every branch country as a contribution to the “Green Middle East Initiative" launched by HRH Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.
AOU said that the spread of its branches in 9 Arab countries gives the University a privileged position to be a contributing factor in achieving the noble goals of the “Green Middle East Initiative", in line with the objectives of the university to promote sustainable development and contribute to raising the quality of life.
AOU President, Prof. Muhammad Al-Zakari said, “AOU has always believed in its key role in improving the quality of life and achieving sustainable development in all Arab countries."
AOU launched the “2022 Seedlings" campaign, with the participation of university officials and employees, and within partnership with associations interested in the environment and agriculture.
Prof. Al-Zakari said, “We aim to plant 2022 trees in each branch country, in liaison with agricultural and afforestation associations in the various countries where our branches are located, to determine the best tree types that suit the environment of each region and bring the greatest possible benefit to communities. “
