The Headquarters of Arab Open University (AOU), Kuwait, in cooperation with Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University, Morocco, organized a virtual symposium on “AOU Opens its gates in the countries of the Maghreb" last Monday, July 12, 2021. Representing Dr. Driss Ouaouicha, Minister Delegate in charge of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Morocco, Mr. Mohamed Nabil Benchekroun attended the symposium in addition to the presence of Prof. Al-Tayyeb Al-Bakoush, Secretary General of the Arab Maghreb Union, Dr. Radwan Merabet, President of Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University, Mr Deputy, Rachid El-Kabil from the House of Representatives in Morocco as well as a group of academics from the Maghreb countries. From the part of AOU, Prof. Nayef Bejad Al-Mutairi, on behalf of the AOU President, Prof. Muhammad Al-Zakri, and Prof. Omar Al-Jarrah, in addition to a number of university senior management staff participated in the symposium's activities.
During the symposium, university education in the Maghreb countries was addressed in addition to the need for utilizing modern technology. The Project of AOU and its unique mission in developing human beings was presented, where the participants indicated how AOU and its educational approach meets the requirements of developing the education system, and the needs of societies for high-quality educational alternatives.
In closing, Prof. Dr. Nayef Al-Mutairi conveyed the greetings and gratitude of HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Board of Trustees to all the participants for their participation in such activities that will contribute into building bridges of cooperation among brothers in Morocco and to unify the efforts of governments with those of developmental and educational institutions in the field of learning and improving the educational environment for all those who intend to complete their higher education in the Arab world, from East to West, without economic, social or geographical obstacles.
