A ceremony was held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Arab Open University, to honor former President of the Arab Open University (AOU), Prof Moudhi AlHumoud.
The ceremony was held on Tuesday at Sheraton hotel in Kuwait city and witnessed a presence of the Board members and a number of faculty and administrative staff of the AOU. Advisor to the Amiri Diwan Dr Yousef Hamad Al Ibrahim on behalf of HRH Prince Talal Chairman of the Board, welcomed the attendees into the ceremony. He praised the role of the Arab Open University and honoring Al-Humoud in recognition of her great leadership and efforts throughout her presidency of the University that was characterized by integrity and loyalty. The Board announced that Prof Mohammad Ibrahim Al-Zakri as President of the AOU.
On his behalf, Zakri thanked and appreciated Prof Humoud for her great efforts throughout her presidency of the University that resulted in essential changes in all academic, administrative and financial areas. He also commended her personal qualities, acceptance of other views, humility, cooperation, and sincerity wishing her all success in her life. He added “we are here to honor an icon of Kuwait and a character with a multitude of talents. We are serving in this university to give the right of education for everyone no matter who or where they come from. Al-Humoud was also passionate enough to create a special major for students with disabilities.”
For her part, Prof Moudhi said that every year she spent in the university was an experience she was tremendously proud of. “I spend 9 years in the Arab Open University and we accomplished a lot. Not alone but with our teamwork that developed the university all over the world. I thank Kuwait, our glorious HH Amir, Prince Talal, university’s staff, students, my family and all the ones who supported me.”
