On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, Prof. Moudi Abdul-Aziz Al-Humoud, President of the Arab Open University (AOU), extended her congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the people and the government of Kuwait, and to all the staff of the AOU.
This came in a speech delivered by her during the Quraish celebration organized by the Department of Media and Cultural Relations at the AOU Headquarters for the staff of the AOU. The celebration was attended by Prof. Naif Al-Mutairi, Director of the AOU Kuwait Branch, Coordinators of Academic Programs, the staff of the AOU Kuwait Branch, and the visiting delegation from the Open University in the UK.
Prof. Al-Humoud expressed her happiness for the participation of all the employees of the University in reviving this occasion, which is one of the ancient Kuwaiti customs and traditions the Kuwaiti people still celebrate on the last day of the month of Sha'baan every year to express their joy and happiness in welcoming Ramadan. She said that this social and traditional occasion means many meanings of love, solidarity, and compassion, so the university is keen to hold such events.
The Director of the Media and Cultural Relations Department, Mr. Ali Al-Qallaf, expressed his thanks to the President of the University for her patronage of the ceremony, based on her keenness on the participation of the University in all activities that promote love and loyalty to the country, society, and humanity.
He said, "Quraish Day is a festival celebrated by the people of Kuwait in the last days of the month of Sha'baan each year for welcoming the holy month of Ramadan; therefore, the AOU represented by its headquarters and all its employees, who are from 22 Arab and friendly countries, prepared to participate in this festival.”
At the end of the ceremony, the winners of the best traditional dish and costume were announced. The competition was attended by all the AOU employees from different sectors of the work. Then, a number of gifts were presented to the participants in this event.
